Facing Crisis Levels of Food Insecurity
By addressing both hunger and access to education, Haiti Empowered removes key barriers to learning leading to improved attendance, increased retention, and ultimately higher educational attainment for vulnerable children.
We begin by addressing the most urgent barriers to survival—access to nutritious food, basic healthcare, and safe support systems. By stabilizing a child’s health and well-being, we create the conditions necessary for them to learn, grow, and fully engage in the opportunities ahead.
Children are supported in accessing consistent, high-quality education from early childhood through secondary school (PK1 to Grade 13). This ensures they are not only enrolled, but able to attend and participate meaningfully in a structured learning environment.
Through sustained education, students build essential skills such as literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and personal discipline. This stage transforms access to education into real, functional capability—equipping each student with the tools needed to navigate life and pursue opportunity.
Students are given the opportunity to pursue hands-on trades training that reflects the realities of the local economy. By focusing on skills that are in demand, this stage bridges the gap between education and employment, preparing participants for practical, income-generating work.
Graduates transition into employment or self-generated income, enabling them to support themselves and their families. This economic stability not only improves individual livelihoods, but also strengthens communities and creates a foundation for long-term, generational change.
