4Planet connects businesses with the charities they fund from their sales.

Here's how to get started:

1. Tap or scan a product: Hold your phone near the NFC tag on a partner's product, or scan its QR code, to open its page on 4Planet. You don't need an account for this.

1. Create a free account: Sign up at /auth/sign-up. Then choose an account type at /dashboard/account-type: Supporter, Partner (Business), or Charity / Cause.

1. Set your charity preferences: Supporters can open Charity Preferences (/dashboard/wallet) and choose which charities they'd like to support, and in what proportions.

1. Explore missions: Browse missions at /missions. Each mission page names the charity running it, and says where each impact figure came from.

Creating an account

Visit /auth/sign-up and enter your email address and a password. Follow the link in the confirmation email to finish signing up.

Running a charity? Use /auth/sign-up?intent=charity. If your charity already has a page on 4Planet, you can claim it from that page instead.

Choosing your account type

After signing in, go to /dashboard/account-type and pick Supporter, Partner (Business), or Charity / Cause. Later you'll find this under Settings → Organizations.

Signing in

Go to /auth/login and enter your email and password. If you've turned on two-factor authentication, you'll also be asked for the code from your authenticator app.

Forgot your password?

Use the forgot password link on the login page. We'll email you a link to set a new one.

Updating your profile

Go to Settings → Profile to change your name, avatar and locale. Email and in-app alerts are under Settings → Notifications.

Deleting your account

Go to Settings → Privacy & Data and use "Delete my account", or email privacy@4planet.io.

What you see depends on your account type.

Supporters

• My Impact (/dashboard/my-impact): your totals.
• Charity Preferences (/dashboard/wallet): the charities you'd like to support and the percentage each one gets.
• Transaction History (/dashboard/transactions): each transaction with its date, amount and status.
• My Receipts (/dashboard/receipts): download a tax receipt as a PDF, or email it to yourself.
• Achievements (/dashboard/achievements): the badges you've earned.

Partners

Your dashboard links to Campaigns, Shopify, Settle Funds, Statements, Partnerships, Find Charities and Impact. Partner settings add Team Members, Billing and API Keys.

Charities

Your dashboard groups its links: Tell your story (Missions, Share Kit, and your profile and page settings), Get funded (Payouts, Donations, Funding Activity, Receipts, Reports), Work with partners (Partnerships, Team, Volunteers) and Account (Get Started, Organization Details, Registration & Type).

Settings (everyone)

Profile, Organizations, Notifications, Security (password and two-factor) and Privacy & Data (export or delete your data).

Passwords

Use a password you don't use anywhere else. A long one (12 characters or more) is harder to guess.

Two-factor authentication (MFA)

Two-factor authentication is optional for most accounts. It is required to use the 4Planet admin panel.

To turn it on, go to Settings → Security and set it up with an authenticator app. Any app that supports TOTP codes works, for example Google Authenticator, Authy or 1Password.

4Planet does not issue recovery codes. If you lose the phone with your authenticator app, email support@4planet.io.

One login per person

Don't share a login. Partners add teammates under Settings → Team Members, and charities under Team. The person needs their own 4Planet account first.

If you lose access

1. Try the forgot password link on the login page.
2. If you've lost your authenticator app, email support@4planet.io.

Suspicious activity

If you see a sign-in or a change you don't recognise, change your password straight away and email security@4planet.io.

What we collect

• Account details: your email, your name, and any profile details you add.
• Activity: your charity preferences and your transactions.
• Payments: we don't store card numbers. Payments are processed by Stripe.

How we use it

• To show your impact and history, and to produce tax receipts.
• To produce combined figures for missions and charities.

Your rights (PIPEDA)

• Get a copy of your data: go to Settings → Privacy & Data and use "Export my data". We email you a link to download it as JSON, CSV or PDF.
• Correct it: update your details in Settings → Profile.
• Delete your account: use "Delete my account" in Settings → Privacy & Data, or email privacy@4planet.io. Some records may be kept where the law requires it.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in. Analytics cookies are only used if you accept them in the cookie banner; you can decline.

How 4Planet handles money

Partners pay charities through Stripe Connect. Each payment is charged on the charity's own Stripe account, so the money goes from the partner to the charity and 4Planet never holds it.

How a charity is picked for a Shopify order

When a partner's Shopify store records an order, 4Planet decides which charity it supports, in this order:

1. A charity the customer picked at checkout, if the store offers that choice.
2. A charity the partner mapped to that product.
3. Your charity preferences, if the purchase is linked to your 4Planet account.
4. The charities on the partner's campaign.
5. The partner's default charities.

For supporters

Charity Preferences (/dashboard/wallet) holds preferences, not money. Nothing is taken from you and there is no balance to top up.

For partners

Each order adds to what you owe each charity. You pay it from Settle Funds (/dashboard/partner/settle). See "Understanding fund settlement".

For charities

The money arrives in your charity's Stripe account. You manage payouts to your bank in your Stripe Express dashboard, which you open from Payouts (/dashboard/charity/stripe).

Who can issue a tax receipt?

Only registered charities can issue an official donation receipt for Canadian tax purposes. Not every organization on 4Planet is a registered charity, so not every contribution comes with one.

When does a receipt arrive?

A receipt is created when the partner settles the payment behind your purchase, not at the moment you buy. The charity then reviews it, approves it and sends it. So the timing depends on when the partner settles and when the charity sends its receipts.

Where do I find my receipts?

Go to My Receipts (/dashboard/receipts). You can download each receipt as a PDF or email it to yourself.

What's on a receipt?

The charity's name and registration number, the date, the amount and a receipt number, along with the other details the Canada Revenue Agency asks for.

Partner statements are not tax receipts

The monthly statements partners receive are records of what they paid. They are not donation receipts.

Missing a receipt?

Email support@4planet.io with the date of the purchase and the store you bought from.

Can't sign in

• Check your email address for typos or extra spaces.
• Use the forgot password link on the login page to set a new password.
• If you've lost your authenticator app, email support@4planet.io.
• Clear your browser's cookies for 4Planet and try again.

A tag or code won't open

• Many iPhones read NFC tags with no setting to change. On Android, turn on NFC in Settings.
• Hold the top of your phone against the tag for a second or two.
• For QR codes, allow your camera app or browser to use the camera.
• If the product has both a tag and a QR code, try the other one.

A purchase isn't showing yet

A purchase appears once the partner's store has recorded the order. Money moves to the charity later, when the partner settles. You can check the status in Transaction History (/dashboard/transactions).

A receipt hasn't arrived

• Check your spam folder.
• Check that your email address is right in Settings → Profile.
• Receipts are sent after the partner settles and the charity sends its receipts.

A page is slow or won't load

• Refresh the page.
• Check /status, which runs a live check of our services.
• Try another browser, or turn off browser extensions.

Error codes

• 401: you're not signed in. Sign in and try again.
• 403: your account doesn't have permission for this.
• 429: too many requests in a short time. Wait a minute and try again.
• 500: something failed on our side. Check /status, then try again.

For anything else, email support@4planet.io with a screenshot.

Some partner products carry an NFC tag, a QR code, or both. Tapping or scanning one opens a page on 4Planet.

NFC tag

Hold the top of your phone near the tag, usually on the label or packaging. Your phone shows a link. Open it.

Many iPhones read NFC tags with no setting to change. On Android, NFC must be turned on in Settings.

QR code

Point your phone's camera at the QR code and open the link that appears.

Do I need an account?

No. Anyone can tap or scan.

Nothing to type in

Tags and codes open their page through the link itself. There is no code to enter by hand.

Here's what happens after you buy from a 4Planet partner:

1. The order is recorded: the partner's store sends the order to 4Planet.

1. A charity is picked: 4Planet records which charity the purchase supports. See "How payments work" for the order in which a charity is chosen.

1. Nothing extra is charged to you: the partner owes the charity. No money has moved yet.

1. The partner settles: the partner pays each charity what it's owed, from their dashboard or with auto-pay on the 1st of the month.

1. The money reaches the charity: the payment goes to the charity's own Stripe account. Stripe then pays it out to the charity's bank.

1. A tax receipt is prepared: if the charity is registered, a receipt is created when the partner settles. The charity approves it and sends it to you.

You can follow the status of your transactions in Transaction History (/dashboard/transactions).

Your preferences decide which charities your purchases support, when a purchase is linked to your account.

How to set them

1. Sign in.
2. Go to Charity Preferences (/dashboard/wallet).
3. Add a charity and set its percentage.
4. Add more if you like. The percentages must add up to 100%.

What if I don't set any?

The partner's campaign charities are used, and if there is no campaign, the partner's default charities.

Can I change them?

Yes, at any time. Changes apply to purchases recorded after you save. Purchases already recorded keep the charities they had.

When your preferences don't apply

A charity you picked at checkout comes first, and so does a charity the partner has mapped to that specific product.

Viewing your history

Transaction History (/dashboard/transactions) lists your transactions with their date, amount and status.

Filtering

Filter by date range, and by status: pending, completed, failed or refunded.

Pending transactions

Pending means the partner hasn't paid the charity yet. It changes once the partner settles.

Your totals

My Impact (/dashboard/my-impact) shows your running totals.

Exporting

There's no export button on Transaction History. To download everything we hold about your account, including your transactions, go to Settings → Privacy & Data and use "Export my data". We email you a download link.

Badges mark things you've done on 4Planet. You'll find them on Achievements (/dashboard/achievements).

Sharing badges

• First Voice: you shared your first conservation mission.
• Mission Champion: you shared 5 different missions.
• Community Builder: you reached 10 shares across all missions.
• Weekly Warrior: you shared conservation content 7 days in a row.
• Viral Voice: one of your shares led to a new supporter.

Supporting badges

• Wildlife Guardian: you supported 3 wildlife conservation missions.
• Ocean Defender: you supported 3 ocean protection missions.
• Forest Protector: you supported 3 reforestation missions.
• Early Supporter: you donated within the first week after a mission launched.

Greenwashing means claiming environmental impact without proof. 4Planet keeps records instead.

What the records show

1. Which charity each purchase supports: every recorded order is tied to a named charity.

1. Where the money goes: partners pay charities through Stripe Connect. Each payment is charged on the charity's own Stripe account, so the money does not pass through 4Planet.

1. A dated record: each allocation and payment is recorded with a date. You see yours in Transaction History, and charities see theirs in their dashboard.

1. Who we work with: a person on our team reviews charity and partner verification. Only registered charities can issue official tax receipts.

1. Whose figures they are: each impact figure on a mission says where it came from, either the charity or Nexus Impacts. A mission's Evidence page shows any photographs and documents published as evidence for it.

Partners are businesses that fund charities out of their sales.

Ways to join

• Shopify stores: install the 4Planet app, which sets up your partner account.
• Other businesses: apply on /partners, or join the waitlist at /early-access.
• Already have a 4Planet account? Go to /dashboard/account-type and choose Partner (Business).

Setting up

1. Verify your business. Until you do, a banner on your dashboard links to the verification page.
2. Connect your store: the Shopify app, a WooCommerce order webhook, or the REST API.
3. Create a campaign and pick your charities.

Plans

Partners start on the Base plan with a 14-day free trial. See "Plans and pricing".

No store?

You can still pay a charity directly. On Settle Funds, a direct payment lets you pick a charity and an amount, then pay through Stripe, with no campaign or sales needed.

Who bills the plan

If you installed 4Planet from the Shopify App Store, Shopify bills the plan on your Shopify invoice. You choose it on Shopify's plan page and change it there. On another website or through our API, you get an Enterprise plan arranged with our sales team and priced case by case.

Payments to charities

4Planet takes 0% of what you pay charities. You pay each charity directly, on the charity's own Stripe account, so Stripe's standard processing fee applies there. 4Planet never receives or holds that money.

Billing and cancelling

Your plan is on the Billing page (/billing). On Shopify, cancel by uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin, and Shopify stops the charge. An Enterprise plan ends on the terms agreed with our sales team.

4Planet verifies every business before it can send money to a charity. Charities are verified too, and both sides sign a partnership agreement before any money moves.

What we check

• Your registered legal name, country and registration number, against the public register
• Your registered address and a business phone number
• That your website is on the same domain as the email you signed up with
• Your name and job title, as the person setting up the account

You give these during sign-up. If you skipped them, the verification page (/dashboard/partner/verify) asks for them.

How long it takes

Reviews usually take 1 to 3 business days. We email the owners and admins on your account when you are verified, or tell you what to correct if we cannot verify you yet.

Paying from the right account

Pay from a card or bank account in your registered business name, or in the name of a person on your account. 4Planet compares the name on each payment and checks any that do not match.

Using a personal email address

If you signed up with a Gmail or similar address, or your email and website are on different domains, we cannot confirm the business is yours from the sign-up alone. Contact us (/contact?topic=partner&about=domain) and tell us why.

Renewing and changing your details

Verification lasts a year. When it expires, the verification page asks you to check your details and send them again. To change verified details before then, email support@4planet.io.

A partner account can have several people on it. Base includes up to 5.

Roles

Each person has one of five roles: owner, admin, treasurer, member or viewer. Only owners and admins can add people.

A treasurer handles the money without running the account. They can pay charities, edit payment details and change payment settings, and they cannot invite people or change the organisation. Turning on scheduled payments, or raising a limit, stays with the owner.

Anyone who can touch payment details signs in with a second factor. If they have not set one up yet, we ask them to before they can open those pages.

Adding someone

1. Go to Settings → Team Members (/settings/users).
2. Enter their email address and choose a role.

The person must already have a 4Planet account. If they don't, ask them to sign up at /auth/sign-up first. Once added, they have access straight away.

Changing a role or removing someone

Do both from the same page.

Step 1: Install the app

Choose "Connect Shopify" on your dashboard. Shopify asks you to approve the 4Planet app.

The app asks for permission to read and update products, read orders, and read checkouts.

Step 2: Check the installation

Open Shopify (/dashboard/shopify) from your dashboard. Your store is listed as Active.

Step 3: Choose where each sale goes

From the Shopify page you can:

• Send a product's sales to a charity, at a percentage you set.
• Link a product to a campaign.
• Link a Shopify collection to a campaign.

Products you don't map follow your campaign's charities, then your default charities.

Step 4: Test it

Place a test order in your store. When Shopify creates the order, 4Planet records it, and what you owe each charity shows on Settle Funds.

Uninstalling

Uninstall the 4Planet app from your Shopify admin. The installation then shows as Uninstalled. Orders already recorded stay recorded.

A campaign sets which charities your sales support and the share each one gets.

Creating a campaign

Go to Campaigns (/dashboard/partner/campaigns) and create a new one. You'll set:

1. Name and URL slug
2. Description
3. Dates: a start date and, if you want one, an end date.
4. Charities: add one or more and set a percentage for each. The percentages must add up to 100%.

You can also let customers choose which charity receives their donation.

Linking products

Link Shopify products and collections to a campaign from the Shopify page. See "Connecting Shopify step-by-step".

Changing a campaign

Changes to the charities or percentages apply to orders recorded after you save. Orders already recorded keep their split.

From store orders

When your connected store records an order, 4Planet adds it to what you owe the charity it supports. You don't have to do anything else until you settle.

Direct payments

To pay a charity without a campaign or any sales:

1. Go to Settle Funds (/dashboard/partner/settle) and start a direct payment.
2. Pick the charity and enter the amount.
3. Accept the terms and pay through Stripe.

Seeing what you owe

Settle Funds lists each charity with the amount you currently owe it. There is no balance to top up in advance: you pay when you settle.

Settlement means paying charities what your sales owe them. Each payment is charged on the charity's own Stripe account, so 4Planet never holds the money. Settlement unlocks once your business is verified.

Paying from your dashboard

1. Go to Settle Funds (/dashboard/partner/settle).
2. Each charity is listed with what you owe it.
3. Pay one charity, or pay them all at once.

You enter your payment details on the page. Each charity is a separate Stripe payment.

Reminders

We email you a reminder on the 28th of the month with what's due.

Auto-pay

With auto-pay, 4Planet charges your saved card or pre-authorized bank debit on a day you pick, and pays each charity what it's owed. You set a monthly limit, and you sign once. At least ten days before every charge we email an itemised notice: it names each charity, each amount and the total, and that is the amount charged. The notice carries a link that stops that run, and you can turn auto-pay off from your settlement page at any time.

Auto-pay is in beta testing with a small group of partners. You will see it on the settlement page with a button to ask for access.

Pre-authorized bank debits are in CAD and take a few business days to clear.

If an auto-pay charge fails, we email you the reason. What you owe stays pending: update your payment method, or pay from Settle Funds.

After you pay

• The money goes to each charity's Stripe account.
• Receipts are created for eligible donations, for the charity to approve and send.
• The payment appears on your monthly statement.

Monthly statements

On the 1st of each month we create a statement for the month before, and email it as a PDF to your partner contact email address.

You can also download past statements from Statements (/dashboard/partner/statements).

Statements are not tax receipts

A statement is a record of your activity and payments. Official donation receipts are issued by registered charities.

Exporting data

Analytics (/dashboard/partner/analytics) has a CSV export for your own records and accounting.

The 4Planet REST API is part of the Enterprise plan, once your business is verified. It is not included in the $29 Base plan.

Getting a key

Go to Settings → API Keys and create a key. Each key has scopes that limit what it can do. You can rotate or revoke a key from the same page.

Send the key as a bearer token:

Authorization: Bearer 4pk_live_YOUR_KEY

Limits

• Base: up to 5 active keys, 1,000 requests an hour per key.
• Enterprise: up to 20 active keys, 10,000 requests an hour per key.

Going over returns HTTP 429 with the error code RATE_LIMITED.

Webhooks

4Planet doesn't send webhooks to partners yet.

Orders aren't appearing in 4Planet

1. Check the installation: open the Shopify page (/dashboard/shopify). Your store should be listed as Active. If it says Uninstalled, install the app again.

1. Check your verification: the Shopify integration is locked until your business is verified. See "Getting verified (partners)".

1. Check where the product's sales go: look at the product and collection mappings on the Shopify page. Products without a mapping follow your campaign, then your default charities.

1. Check the order itself: 4Planet records an order when Shopify creates it.

The amount looks wrong

Check the percentage on the product mapping or the campaign. A change only applies to orders recorded after you saved it.

Permissions

The app needs permission to read and update products, read orders, and read checkouts. If you removed one, install the app again and approve all of them.

What is restricted mode?

Until your business is verified, some features are locked. A banner at the top of your dashboard lists them and links to the verification page.

How to get out of restricted mode

Start verification from the banner's link. While our team reviews it, the banner says your verification is under review. It disappears once you're verified.

4Planet charges charities nothing.

Who can join?

Registered charities, non-profits and community groups. You choose your organization type during setup.

Ways to join

• Your charity already has a page: find it at /charities and claim it from that page. A person on our team reviews each claim.
• Sign up as a charity: go to /auth/sign-up?intent=charity.
• Get in touch: use the form on /charities/landing.

Setting up

From your dashboard:

1. Get Started: work through the setup checklist.
2. Registration & Type: set your organization type and registration details, and verify.
3. Payouts: connect Stripe, so partners can pay you.

How partners find you

Partners browse charities from Find Charities on their dashboard, and can send a partnership request from your charity's page.

Verification confirms you are a registered charity. 4Planet checks it before any partner can pay you or say it supports you.

How to verify

1. Open Organization details (/dashboard/charity/settings). Enter your registration number, the country you are registered in, and a contact person.
2. Open Registration & Type (/dashboard/charity/verify). While 4Planet reviews your details, it shows "With 4Planet for review".
3. 4Planet checks your registration against the public charity register and runs a sanctions check.
4. When the check is done, the badge next to your charity name changes to Verified. There is no email for this yet.

Before you're verified

Your profile, page and missions all work. The funding tiles (Partner payments, Partnerships, Reports) appear once you are verified.

You do not need Stripe to be verified

Stripe is only for card and monthly payments. Partners can pay a verified charity by wire, e-Transfer or cheque.

If your details change

Update them in Organization details, or email support@4planet.io.

How it arrives

1. A partner you have accepted pays you directly, by wire, e-Transfer or cheque, and records the payment on 4Planet.
2. You get an email asking you to confirm it.
3. A manager or finance contact opens Partner payments (/dashboard/charity/payments), checks your bank, and confirms it or says what is different. Confirming needs an authenticator app.

If you connected Stripe, partners can also pay by card or set up monthly payments. Those arrive in your own Stripe account.

4Planet never holds the money and does not take donations.

Seeing what arrived

Confirmed payments are listed in Partner payments and Funding activity (/dashboard/charity/activity). If you use Stripe, your Stripe balance and payouts are in your Stripe Express dashboard, opened from Payouts (/dashboard/charity/stripe).

Seeing which partners support you

Partnerships (/dashboard/charity/partnerships) lists your partners and any pending requests.

If a partner hasn't paid

When money arrives is up to the partner. If a partner doesn't settle, email compliance@4planet.io.

Each mission can show a goal: what it counts and the target it's working toward.

Setting a goal

1. Open Missions from your dashboard and edit a mission.
2. In Mission goal, turn on "Show a goal".
3. Enter a label and unit, for example Coral Fragments Planted and fragments, and the goal figure.
4. Save the mission.

We suggest units based on the UN goals the mission is tagged with. You can use your own. Mission cards show the goal as a target.

Measured results

Measured results come from Nexus Impacts. A figure imported from Nexus says so on the mission page, and a figure your charity entered says who reported it.

Figures you entered before

If a mission already has a current value or extra figures, they stay editable, so you can correct a wrong number.

Evidence

A mission's Evidence page shows any photographs and documents published as evidence for it.

Impact reports

Reports (/dashboard/charity/reports) opens your Impact Reports, organised into tabs. You can export a report as a PDF.

Board report

/dashboard/charity/reports/board prepares a report for your board.

Exporting data

Reports include an export of your data for grant applications and audits.

API access

API keys come with the partner plans. For bulk data, email support@4planet.io.

Partner payments go directly into your charity's connected Stripe account, not through 4Planet. There's nothing to withdraw from 4Planet: Stripe pays out to your bank.

Before you can receive payments

Open Payouts (/dashboard/charity/stripe) and finish Stripe's onboarding, including your bank account.

How money reaches your bank

When a partner settles, the payment lands in your Stripe balance. Stripe then pays it out to your bank on your payout schedule.

Your Stripe Express dashboard

Once your Stripe account is active, Payouts links to your Stripe Express dashboard. There you can see your balance and payouts, change your payout schedule, and update your bank account.

If Stripe needs something from you

Payouts shows your Stripe account's status, and lets you pick up onboarding where you left off. If you need help, email support@4planet.io.

Registered charities issue tax receipts for eligible donations. 4Planet prepares them, and your charity approves and sends them.

When receipts are created

A receipt is created when a partner settlement that includes your charity completes.

Approving and sending

1. Open Receipts (/dashboard/charity/receipts) from your dashboard.
2. Review the pending receipts.
3. Approve them, one at a time or in bulk.
4. Send the approved receipts. Donors receive them by email.

What's on a receipt

Your charity's name and registration number, the donor, the date, the amount and a receipt number, along with the other details the Canada Revenue Agency asks for.

If a receipt is wrong

Don't approve it. Email support@4planet.io with the receipt number.

Roles

Each person on your charity's team has one of three roles: manager, member or viewer. Managers can add and remove people.

Adding someone

1. Open Team (/dashboard/charity/team) from your dashboard.
2. Enter their email address and choose a role.

The person must already have a 4Planet account. If they don't, ask them to sign up at /auth/sign-up first.

Removing someone

A manager can remove them from the same page.

Partner businesses can ask to fund your charity. Their requests arrive on Partnerships (/dashboard/charity/partnerships).

Reviewing a request

Verification

The page shows "Under review" until the review is finished.

Partner payments

This is up to the partner. Most pay from their dashboard, and we remind them on the 28th of the month. Partners with auto-pay are charged on the 1st.

Payouts to your bank

Stripe pays out on the schedule set in your Stripe Express dashboard. How long the transfer takes also depends on your bank.

Receipts

A receipt is created when a partner settlement completes. Donors get it once your charity approves and sends it.
