Question 1

What is 4Planet?

Accepted Answer

4Planet connects businesses with the charities they fund from their sales. Shoppers can tap or scan a product to see which cause it supports, and charities are paid to their own Stripe accounts.

Question 2

How does product verification work?

Accepted Answer

A product can be verified by tapping its NFC tag, scanning its QR code, through payment tracking, or by manual entry. The verification is then linked to the mission it supports.

Question 3

Is 4Planet free to use?

Accepted Answer

Shoppers use 4Planet for free, and charities pay no platform fee. Partner businesses pay $29 a month, or $24 a month billed annually. The pricing page has the details.

Question 4

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

You can start by verifying a product, exploring conservation projects, or creating a free account to track your impact over time.

Question 5

How do I verify a product?

Accepted Answer

You can verify a product by tapping an NFC tag, scanning a QR code, or using other verification methods. Visit our verify page to get started.

Question 6

Will I get a tax receipt?

Accepted Answer

A CRA-compliant transaction receipt is generated for every verified purchase, and it serves as your record of the transaction. Official charity tax receipts, signed by the charity, are issued through 4Planet’s bulk sending process once the charity completes its e-signature step, and are emailed to you then.

Question 7

Can I track my impact over time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Create a free account to see all your verifications, your total impact, and the missions you have supported.

Question 8

How do I know the impact is real?

Accepted Answer

Each mission page names the charity running it, and the impact figures on it are the ones that charity reported.

How do I become a partner?

Accepted Answer

Fill out the application form on our partners page. A person on our team reviews every application by hand.

Question 10

One plan: $29 a month, or $24 a month billed annually, for up to 2,000 transactions a month. Above that, contact us about an Enterprise plan.

Question 12

Accepted Answer

It depends on your platform. We are working with each founding partner directly to get them set up.

Question 13

How do I become a charity partner?

Accepted Answer

Create a charity account, or claim your page if your charity is already listed. A person on our team checks your registration details before you can work with partners.

Question 14

How do partners pay us?

Accepted Answer

Partners pay you directly, by wire, e-Transfer or cheque, and record the payment on 4Planet. You confirm in your dashboard that it arrived. Card and monthly payments go through your own Stripe account. 4Planet does not collect donations or hold your money.

Question 15

Are tax receipts automatic?

Accepted Answer

No. Each receipt waits in your dashboard until someone at your charity approves it, and only approved receipts are sent.

Question 16

What reporting is available?

Accepted Answer

Your dashboard lists each partner payment. You can export a year-end reconciliation as CSV and an annual board report for your board pack.

Question 17

What verification methods are supported?

Accepted Answer

We support NFC tags, QR codes, payment tracking, and manual entry. Partners can choose the method that works best for their products.

Question 18

How secure is verification?

Accepted Answer

NFC verification uses cryptographic signatures to prevent counterfeiting.

Question 19

What if verification fails?

Accepted Answer

A failed verification can mean a counterfeit product or a technical problem. Contact support and we will look into it.

Question 20

Can I verify multiple products?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can verify as many products as you like. All verifications are tracked in your account dashboard.

Question 21

When will I receive my tax receipt?

Accepted Answer

A transaction receipt is generated within minutes of a verified donation. Your official charity tax receipt, signed by the charity, is sent once the charity completes its bulk e-signature step, so the timing depends on when the charity processes its receipt batch.

Question 22

Are tax receipts CRA-compliant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Both receipt types carry the fields the CRA requires. Transaction receipts serve as your record of the transaction, and charity tax receipts, issued after the charity’s e-signature step, are the official signed receipts you use for tax filing.

Question 23

Can I get a receipt for past donations?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can access all your transaction receipts through your account dashboard. For charity tax receipts, contact the charity directly or reach out to our support team for assistance.

Question 24

What information is on the receipt?

Accepted Answer

Both transaction receipts and charity tax receipts include the charity name, CRA registration number, donation amount, date, and all other information required by the Canada Revenue Agency. Charity tax receipts additionally carry the charity's digital signature.

Question 25

How is my data protected?

Accepted Answer

Traffic is served over TLS, and our database host, Supabase, encrypts data at rest. We build to PIPEDA. No third party has audited us against it, and the security page lists what we have and what we do not.

Question 26

Who can see my verification history?

Accepted Answer

Your verification history is private to you. Aggregated, anonymized data may be used for impact reporting, but individual data is never shared.

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can request account deletion at any time. Some data may be retained for compliance purposes as required by law.

Question 28

How do you handle payment information?
