Lafferonay Down but not Defeated

In May 2025, the community of Lafforanay experienced a gang attack that forced families to flee their homes and abandon the village for safety. When residents were eventually able to return, many found their homes looted, damaged, or burned. The destruction left families facing immense uncertainty and hardship.

Despite these traumatic events, the people of Lafforanay have shown remarkable resilience and determination to rebuild their community. Local teachers and community leaders continue serving families and supporting children during an incredibly difficult season. Community members expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing partnership with Haiti Empowered, whose support has helped provide stability, encouragement, and hope as families work to recover and move forward together.
