The Mwana Nshuti Vocational Training School opened in 1998 and now teaches at two sites in Rwanda, one in Kigali and one in Bugesera. It is run by Friends Peace House, which says it was established in response to the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The school is the part of its work with the most public record. Its trade classes publish records by the month, each with photographs and documents, and Friends Peace House has published more than 400 photographs this way. No other organization listed on 4Planet has published as many, which is why this profile can show a classroom instead of describing one.
Friends Peace House supports the nation’s youth through the Mwana Nshuti Vocational Training School, launched in 1998.
The class records name five trades: automobile repair and maintenance, culinary arts, hairdressing, masonry and tailoring. Each record is filed by trade and month. The June 2026 hairdressing class, for example, has a folder of photographs, a folder of documents and a stock card for the month.

Some records follow the students out of the building. In January 2026 the culinary arts class made a study trip to the Kivu Peace View Hotel. Its June record includes a stall under the school’s banner, where the students set out their baking.

Friends Peace House reports its figures through Nexus Impacts, and 4Planet shows them with that source attached. On September 1, 2026 its reported totals were:
24,361 days of vocational education, where a day is five to six hours of teaching depending on the site
12,825 meals provided to students
174 internships
54 graduates with a government certificate
24 jobs acquired after training
These are the organization’s own counts. 4Planet does not audit them. The Youth Trades Program page says where each figure came from, and it will show newer totals than this post as they are reported.
The school sits alongside three other areas of work on the Friends Peace House website. Peacebuilding includes the Alternatives to Violence Project and a refugee reintegration program. Community development includes a clean water project, conservation agriculture and a savings program called Saving for Life. The third area is good governance.

Friends Peace House was listed on 4Planet on August 29, 2026, as a Community Listed organization. Its mission here, the Youth Trades Program, is tagged to four of the Sustainable Development Goals: Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
